Bryce Canyon
Even though Bryce is a lesser park, it still has all the magic and wonder of going to a better-known park such as Yellowstone or Zion. It has its own charm and uniqueness and is worthy of a stop along the way.

Hell's Half Acre
What an amazing place in Wyoming that I stumbled into on the way to Yellowstone! If I've ever been to an "otherworldly place" -- this is it! It has so many hoodoos and color changes in the rocks and the topography changes ever so splendidly that it is a cacophony of visual splendor that simply delights the senses.
Yellowstone
This national park has more geological wonders than practically any other in our national park system and is blessed with so much biological diversity as well. It is hard to say which features are more astounding than others here from waterfalls, to geothermal geysers, lakes, mountain ridges...buffalo, mountain goats, antelope, elk, grizzly bears...

Japanese Anemones
Japanese Anemones or Wind Flowers are a particularly lyrical looking flower which has a beauty that lends itself well to being photographed. These have all been photographed in the great outdoors under the influence of wind, sun, and natural conditions, making them more challenging to shoot than under studio conditions.
About
Benica State Park
This is a little gem of a park in Benicia, CA. Being on the Carquinez Straights, it has its own micro-climate, staying a bit warmer than surrounding areas during the year, allowing it to perhaps have some unique specimens of trees, shrubs, and flowering plants.
Cheese Factory Pond
Grand oak trees reflect majestically in the still waters of this pond at the Marin Cheese Factory...where it is rarely a calm day as the wind is often blowing making it difficult to find serenity. However, waiting for just such a day, one is rewarded with a beauty and a stillness that is dream-like and awe-inspiring and makes for stunning images. I have often gone back there to shoot and was amply rewarded for my troubles.
Horseshoe Bend
The breathtaking view over Horseshoe Canyon 800+ feet above the Colorado River as it twists and winds through the wind and water-carved clifts in Arizona.
Gold Beach
Gold Beach is both unique and beautiful; situated on the southern coast of Oregon. Its main feature is these grand and oversized sea stacks that jut out of the ocean.
Upon arrival at this site, I was disappointed to find the entire coast submerged in a heavy fog. But, with a little patience, my wait paid off as the fog lifted, revealing these stone monoliths. (None of these images is manipulated to give the appearance of stacks behind stacks.) That was the magic of the fog playing with us, giving a mystical character to this amazing coast.
